The Vision
33 Publishing exists to preserve, integrate, and synthesize traditional medicine lineages, classical medical astrology, and sound-healing therapeutics. Every title proceeds from a single foundational conviction: that astrology and medicine are not parallel systems requiring translation between them, but one transdisciplinary endeavor whose separation is historical accident rather than intellectual necessity.
The mission is simple to state: publish carefully researched books that bring historical traditions, contemporary inquiry, and professional education into meaningful conversation. The press produces scholarly, practitioner-grade research texts, and it actively rejects reductionist approaches to knowledge, operating instead under an evidence ecology paradigm: a whole-systems framework that values historical clinical lineages alongside modern biophysical observation, and that examines how knowledge is produced, suppressed, and regenerated.
The Lineages
The scholarship published here is not survey work; it is transmission. The diagnostic core descends through the Menghe-Ding family lineage of internal medicine (one of the great surviving pulse traditions of classical Chinese medicine), carried through an eight-year mentorship with Drs. John H. F. Shen and Leon Hammer, and sustained over thirty years across three family lineages.
The astrological work draws on the full breadth of the classical inheritance: Hellenistic, Medieval, and Renaissance systems, Jyotiṣa, Uranian astrology, Cosmobiology, and Vibrational Astrology, practiced clinically since 1977.
The sound-healing thread runs from the Helios recordings of the mid-1980s, compositions made for acupuncture rooms and healing environments, through rāga study in the Maihar gharana, to current work with planetary sound built on the frequency research of Hans Cousto.
The Work
The flagship project is the Sky Medicine series: more than twenty volumes integrating classical Chinese medicine, medical astrology, sound healing, and the Vedic traditions into a coherent clinical and cosmological framework. Book of Dreams (Vol. IX) and Evidence Ecology: Science and Astrology (Vol. XIV) are in print now, with the remaining volumes to follow as the catalog grows.
All published material is educational, focused on constitutional vitality and symbolic timing. It does not constitute orthodox medical diagnosis or prescriptive healthcare advice.
The Place
33 Publishing is rooted on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake, British Columbia, where the press shares ground with the Kootenay Sound Healing Centre and the living clinical practice from which the books are written. The work is connected to a wider teaching ecology through the MedAstro School of Medical Astrology and Kepler College of Astrological Arts and Sciences.
